Both Beijing and New York are the important cities in China and In America where the majority of people would like to live in. Bei Jing is a prosperous city in China due to the fact that it is the capital city of China and in the city, there is the most profitable Silicon Valley which produced the most advanced technology. Also, for New York, it is also a desiring place for the citizens to live in because there are many skyscrapers and fancy places for people to enjoy their lives.

In fact, when people are talking about Beijing and New York, their first reaction towards these two cities is that the housing prices in these two cities are ones of the highest in their own nations. Both cities’ housing prices are high due to the fact that these two cities are populous and the majority of people are willing to move in the cities to start their new lives.

However, for the city Bei Jing, it is more famous to be known as the “political” city where the famous leaders in China live in and make the political decisions. Therefore, in the city, it is not like Shang Hai or Guang Zhou where the commercial environment is strong. Also, one of the biggest differences between Bei Jing and New York is that in Beijing, most buildings are very short and they are from hundreds of years ago. However, in New York, most of the buildings are tall and they are built or redesigned recently. Quality of the education in these two cities could not be compared either because in Bei Jing, most professors and schools educate the students in the way which is like the factories where there are the same machines producing the same students. In Bei Jing, students are educated in the traditional exam oriented way so that students are required to recite many long articles to write on the exams. However, on the contrary, in New York, most students are asked to think creatively instead of copying other people’s words and writing down the same sentences. In fact, in New York, students tend to have a stronger art sense because they are encouraged to learn a variety of skills such as playing the violin or learning how to dance. However, most teachers in Beijing would say that it is a waste of time to learn other skills because if they do that, they could not focus on improving their grades. Also, it is important to understand that in Bei Jing, the educational system has been improved slowly.

However, in both cities, the living space is going fast because it is competitive in Bei Jing and New York. Also, Beijing is one of the largest cities where immigrants move there to seek for a job and New York is also known as the melting pot where white people, black people and Asian people all gather together. Another big difference between Bei Jing and New York is that Bei Jing is too small to hold so many people as China has the world’s second largest population. Therefore, most immigrants needed to rent a small and dark basement to live in but in New York, as there are less people, the citizens could live in a more decent place with a more reasonable price. In Beijing and New York, the subway systems are both advanced and convenient. However, in Beijing, the government welfare is satisfying as no matter how long the distance is, people only need to pay two yuan for every single ride in the subway. On the contrary, in New York, as the distance gets longer, people need to pay more for the subway fee.

To conclude, Bei Jing and New York are the both the most powerful and prosperous cities in China and the United States of America. However, the educational system in Beijing needs to improve to be more flexible so that more talented people could be educated to improve the nation’s development. Also, the living costs are high in Beijing and New York, especially the housing price, which means that immigrants in both cities need to work harder to make a better living.
