Patsey and other black slaves in the middle of the night were forced up to dance by the drunken slave owner. In the film, she was finally tied to the stakes on the whip, with the back like the black land, just because she wanted a piece of soap, and loved to be clean. For nearly ten minutes, Steve McQueen's long shot followed the slave-owner's whip into the flesh of the slavery girl, who is humiliated, until she was fainted.

In terms of biological nature and morality, the white people have no advantage compared to the black people. However, with the oppressive violence and mean manners, the white succeed to rule over the black people continually. The white traffickers and plantation owner all resort to violence. For example, when Solomon was captured, he was hit with the wood, by a white guy over and over again, who told him not a free man, but a runaway nigger. So were other slaves. The blacks, as a race suffering from oppressive suffering for a long period of time, have gradually become cold and numb in the face of their helplessness and pain, even after seeing their family and friends leaving one by one. And in the silence of black uncle who died for the cotton field, on their faces there is not much mourning, more of a numb.
