In the last report, I had selected the word they as the key word in order to analyze and my major conclusion is that the word they actually represents the concept of gender equality. Gender equality is not only an issue that can be solved by making the correct policies. At the same time, the idea of gender equality is always expressed through the language and the words themselves. It is mentioned that English language is one of the amazing languages because in this language, people are able to express many ideas without expressing biased opinions, which cannot be done in many other languages such as Spanish, Chinese or French. When people are discussing the problems of gender inequality, they often think of females being looked down upon and men dominating the family or the nation.( Norris&Inglehart, 2003)

The issue of gender inequality can be dated back to years ago in a lot of nations. For example, in China, when it was the beginning of the new nation, which was about five thousand years ago, women were already treated as inferior to men because they were not able or allowed to take part in the policy making in the nation and their only duty was to get married to a man and produce children for this man. Therefore, apparently, even centuries ago, women did not have many rights due to the fact that women had no abilities to make money. It is understandable because women were asked to stay at home in order to make clothing for their own families and the only way for them to make sure they can have a good life is to make sure their husbands are satisfied with them.

This unfair situation was about thousands of years ago but even now, in the modern world, women were still treated as the inferior sex who needs to rely on their beauty to make a living, which could fade away easily. Therefore, it is not fair for women in this way.The idea of gender equality can be promoted in many ways, such as promoting it on the newspaper or promoting it by making good policies. However, the only way to make sure that every single citizen can accept the idea of gender equality is to make sure that it is involved in the simple language that we speak every day.For the English words, it is less biased than the French words because there are no biased words or masculine words which define the difference between men and women. ( Norris&Inglehart, 2003)

For the word, they, it means that everyone or every single person who belongs to the same social class or who are from the different races. It is extremely unfair that in many other cultures, some words do not have the feminine form because the public had been assuming that females are not qualified enough to be in such professions. The most obvious example had been made in the last report: the first female university professor had not appeared until the 19th century. In fact, even in the twentieth century, gender equality had not been realized.The problem of gender inequality can be reflected in the most recently heatedly debated topic: the presidential election. Apparently, even in America, the best nation which claimed that it supported the value of freedom and equality, there is not any female president yet.( Norris&Inglehart, 2003)  It is true that there are already a lot of high ranking female officers who are running the country. However, for the leaders, all of them are men and for the French word and Spanish word of “president”, people can hardly notice that women are also allowed to be the president because they will all use the masculine adjectives to describe this word. (Gregory, 2003) Also, what is more serious is that when Hilary Clinton is competing with Donald Trump right now, those people from the party of Donald Trump did not just criticize Hilary Clinton for her ability. What is insulting is that they tried to mock the sexuality of Hilary Clinton. It is well known that more than about one decade ago, her husband, the former president Clinton had an affair with an intern in the office. This was the huge stain in their marriage but as she is a tolerant lady, she forgave her husband. (Gregory, 2003)

However, now she tried to fight for the rights of the women as a qualified lady but she got cruelly mocked for her sexuality. In fact, she was criticized because other people think that she cannot even satisfy her husband and how is it possible that she can satisfy millions of people in America. However, when the women in the nation heard of this comment, they were all angry because this comment is not only insulting for Hilary Clinton. At the same time, it is insulting for all those women in the United States.

To conclude, I think the issue of gender equality can hardly be solved in a day or two. However, to make sure men are women are treated equally. Firstly and most importantly, we need to get rid of the common beliefs that women and men are the same. As a result, from our conversation or words from every day, we need to make sure that we should not make insulting comments on women first and we should not assume that women need their beauty to seduce men for a living because women are also able to make a living with skills and knowledge.
